What do I do with household hazardous waste and e-waste?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept household hazardous waste like paints, oils, batteries, sharps, motor oil, pharmaceuticals, antifreeze, light bulbs, tires, biohazard (blood, urine), brake fluid, explosives, ammunition, pool chemicals, treated wood (ex: railroad ties and telephone poles) and many other things.

If you think if may be hazardous, it probably is, and either we will not be able to accept it, or charge you a hefty fee afterward for throwing it into a dumpster.

There are places you can take this type of material at no charge, and very conveniently. We've listed these resources for you in our active cities below:

Los Angeles


Please take your HHW, E-Waste, Sharps, Treated Wood to a SAFE Center. There are locations in Northridge, San Pedro, Playa Del Rey, UCLA, East LA, and Glendale.

Phoenix


HHW and E-Waste disposal depends on your city, either at monthly collection events or by pickup by registering through your city. Here are a few cities listed below:

Apache Junction HHW, Avondale HHW, Buckeye HHW, Carefree HHW, Cave Creek [no info, please see maricopa county], Chandler HHW, El Mirage HHW, Fountain Hills HHW, Gilbert HHW, Glendale HHW, Goodyear HHW, Litchfield Park HHW, Mesa HHW, Paradise Valley HHW, Peoria HHW, Phoenix HHW, Queen Creek HHW, Scottsdale HHW, Surprise HHW, Tempe HHW, Tolleson HHW

Denver


The city and county of Denver makes it easy to dispose of your HHW materials but they do charge a $15 fee per pickup. You can find info on HHW Disposal Here and FREE Paint Disposal in Denver here.

Dallas


You can take HHW materials for free in the city and county of Dallas to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Road. For more info and see if your cities allows disposal, > please check here. You need an ID showing you live in Dallas, or participating city to dispose at this facility. There are also some additional collection events for city of Dallas residents.
